On Your Mark…
We finally left for the hospital around 1:40. And going up the road I was thinking to myself about when we did this for Jaelyn. At that time I did not know what to expect for anything. We read books, attended a class for five weeks, listened to all kinds of advise from all kinds of people and still nothing prepared me for what I experienced. Now I feel as though I not so much know what to expect but know what to be prepared for. For example, when Jayne said she started feeling the real contractions last night, without thinking too much about it I looked at the clock and started writing down times. I had not thought once about timing contractions during this whole pregnancy, but in an instant everything came back.
So we arrived at the hospital around 2:10 and checked in at the maternity wing. They took Jayne’ and I back to a nurse who asked a bunch of questions that it seems that were filled out on an information sheet we turned in a few months ago. After the nurse was sufficiently convinced that Jayne’ was in labor we next went to the Triage Unit where the contractions were monitored. Here’s a little video of that for you.
While we waited there I was asked to go out a fill out another set of forms and clearances that seemed like signing a mortgage. During this time Jayne was taken upstairs to Labor and Delivery Room 4.
I have joined her and to my surprise have found that there is free wireless internet access available here at the hospital. They may have had this before (i doubt it) but I am glad that they have it now.
